Thelma Zieammermann, 88, died on January 2, 2013, at Newton
Medical Center.
Thelma was born on January 1, 1925, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to
Daniel and Arwilder (Campbell) Pogue. She was the eldest of 12 children. Thelma
was a graduate of Wichita East High School and studied at Ottawa University and
the University of Nebraska. She married Larry Dean Zieammermann on Nov. 6,
1949, at the First Baptist Church in Emporia. They were married for 52 years,
until Larry passed away. Thelma was always active in the Baptist Church. She
worked at the American Baptist Convention in Green Lake, Wisconsin, and served
as a church secretary at several Baptist churches, including First Baptist in
Wichita. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Newton. She
enjoyed cooking, reading, writing, travel and activities related to the church.
She is survived by her children: Kathleen Goetting, Eileen Telfer, and Matt
Zieammermann; two brothers, Charlie Pogue and Pat Pogue; sister, Mary Summers;
13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Larry Dean Zieammermann; parents, Daniel and Arwilder Pogue; sons,
Mike Zieammermann and Dave Zieammermann; and one grandchild.
Funeral services
are scheduled for Saturday, January 5, 2013, 10:00 A.M., at the Meridian
Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M. on January 4, 2013,
at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:30
to 8:00 P.M. Memorials have been set up for the following: Boys Town, Asbury
Park Care Center, Meridian Baptist Church. Thelma’s faith and life touched her
family and many people. She will be remembered for her service to the church,
and her care and love for her family. The family is saddened with her loss, but
