Louise
Jane Franklin, 64, of Farmington died at 6:51 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at
her home.
Born Nov. 21, 1948, in Newton, Kan., she was the daughter of Edward and Audrey
Maire McCulloch Southern Jr. On Aug. 17, 1974, she married Charles Edwin
Franklin in Witchita, Kan.
Mrs. Franklin was a 1966 graduate of Newton High School. She had worked at Tax
Smiths in Fort Madison.
She was a member the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints in Fort
Madison, the Iowa Foster/Adoption Kids Association and the Ladies Bowling
League in West Point. She enjoyed meeting people through her work at Tax Smiths,
bowling, reading, fishing, crocheting, traveling, sprint car and late model
racing and working with special needs children.
Survivors include her husband; ten children, Marshall Kent Charles Franklin,
James Edward Franklin, Jay Micheal Betts, Brandon Charles Franklin, Ashley
Susan Maire Franklin, Alexis Maire Franklin, Kianna Louise Franklin, Kandyce
Jane Franklin, Shannon Charles Franklin and Curtis Charles Franklin; one
sister, Teri Regier of Newton; one brother, Adrian Southern of Ollie; three grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in
Farmington, where family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
The funeral service for Mrs. Franklin will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at
Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington, with Branch President Byron Smith
officiating. Burial will be in Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.
