Obituary: Oleta L. (Brenneman) Schmidt
Oleta L. (Brenneman) Schmidt, 74, of Leon, passed away on
Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at her home. Celebration of her life will be held
11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Leon Christian Church. Interment
will be private. Visitation with the family present will be held on Sunday
afternoon from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Home. Oleta was born on April
18, 1938, in Newton, the daughter of Lawrence J. and Estella (Jantz) Brenneman.
She graduated from Newton High School and attended Bethany Nazarene College in
Bethany, Okla. Oleta was a homemaker and loved flowers, to garden, read and
sew. Oleta was united in marriage to Melvin Schmidt on December 27, 1963, at
the Nazarene Church in Newton. She leaves her husband, Melvin of 49 years; her
children, Melody (Bill) Gault, Shelby (Scott) LaClef, all of Leon;
grandchildren, Josh (Valerie), Zeb (Candy), Zane, Shannon, Sharrah;
great-grandchildren, Noah, Jewel, Leah; and one brother, Wayne (Jean) Brenneman
of Newton. Her parents preceded Oleta in death. The family requests no flowers
be sent for the service. A memorial has been established with Eight Oaks Girls
