Johnny Ray Barrientez, age 42, passed away on Wednesday (Nov. 2, 2016).
Johnny was born in Lamesa, Texas on Jan. 4, 1974, to Evelyn and Placido Barrientez. He and his wife Yvonne Barrientez, also known as Doll Barrientez, were known as Bonnie and Clyde. They moved to Kansas where they raised his son Johnny Ray Barrientez Jr., also known as Mongo. The love and bond he had with his son was unbreakable. Johnny was a Yankees fan and had a love for baseball since his childhood. He also had a passion for Harley Davidson bikes and was known for riding despite weather conditions. People knew him as Ape Hanger Johnny, Rock n Roll Johnny or Cholo. He also had a love for his dogs Tank, Chico, Rhino, and Gizmo. Johnny was employed at AGCO as a welder since 2008. He enjoyed welding and making new projects in his garage.
He is survived by his beautiful wife Yvonne Barrientez (Vela); son Johnny Ray Barrientez Jr. and his spouse Melissa Gonzalez. He is also survived by his parents, Evelyn and Placido Barrientez; brothers, Robert Barrientez and spouse Jenny, and Jordan Barrientez; sisters, Yolanda Barron and spouse Angel, Sylvia Morales and spouse Alfred, Stella Barrientez, Cindy Martinez and spouse Lamar, Gloria Johnson, and Lisa Pate and spouse Mike, all from various towns in Texas. Family residing in Kansas includes father/mother in-law, David and Olga Vela; sister in-law Lisa Vela and spouse Juan; brothers-in-law, David Vela Jr. and spouse Tasha, Mike Vela and spouse April, and Joseph Vela and spouse Larissa. With both of these families combined, there is large number of nieces and nephews that will miss their uncle Johnny deeply.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 6, 2016) at Petersen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday (Nov. 7, 2016) at Our Lady of Guadalupe, with a 9:30 a.m. rosary and 10:00 a.m mass, followed by the burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.
