Victor C.
Thompson, 92, passed away Dec. 13, 2012, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston.
He was
born May 6, 1920, in Ozawkie, the son of Clarence and Myrtle Myers Thompson. He
loved gardening and traveling. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Entomology
from Kansas State University and Master’s in Apiculture-Study of Honey Bees
from Iowa State University. He was a college professor and researcher at Ohio
State University, retiring in 1981.On Dec. 9, 1945, he married Margaret Gray at
Peabody. She passed away March 20, 2011.
He is survived by one brother, Leonard
(Faye) Thompson of Thousand Palms, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Esther Thompson
of Valley Falls; brother-in-law, Fordyce (Marjorie) Gray of Peabody; and
several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence
and Arlan.
There will be no visitation. Graveside inurnment service will be at
9 a.m. Jan. 19, 2013, at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody, with a memorial
service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 19, 2013, at Schowalter Villa Chapel,
Hesston, with Randy Thompson and Chaplain Wendy Miller officiating. Memorials
may be sent to either Foundation for the Preservation of Honey Bees or
Schowalter Villa, in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 107 S. Lancaster,
Hesston, KS 67062.
