Obituary: Bettie Sue Dunn Solomon Davis
Bettie Sue Dunn Solomon Davis, 74, died Thursday, December
27, 2012, at her son’s Stephen Solomon’s residence in Newton. She was born May
2, 1938, in Nevada, Missouri, to Aurbery Banks and Nettie (Walker) Dunn. On
October 14, 1953, she married John Solomon, and he preceded her in death on
February 15, 1963. On May 12, 1976, she married Art Davis, and he also preceded
her in death on April 21, 2004.Bettie was a homemaker and mother and member of
the Federated Church in Whitewater. She enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
She also enjoyed raising and caring for animals around the farm including sheep
and cattle. Bettie’s family was important to her and she greatly looked forward
to spending time with her loving family and many friends. She is survived by
two sons: Stephen and his wife Victoria Solomon of Newton, and Joseph and his
wife Michelle Solomon of Newton; one step-daughter, Peggy and Bob Wheaton of
Brentwood, California; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nine
step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her parents; two husbands; sons, Willard Solomon and John Solomon;
step-son, Artie Dean Davis; three sisters, Beulah Dunn, Lettie Dunn and
Virginia Dunn; six brothers, Hiram, Aurbery, Carl, Charlie, George and Joseph
Dunn; and grandsons, Jeremy Solomon and Stephen Solomon. Visitation will be 1
to 5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will also be on
Friday, Jan. 4, 2012, until 7 p.m. with a funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday,
Jan. 5, 2013, both at Blank-Hackleman Funeral Home, 3130 East Highway 54, El
Dorado Springs, Missouri. Burial will follow in the Hacklaman Cemetery in rural
El Dorado Springs, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to Federated Church,
