O. H. Tantum, for
four years a resident of this city and Fort Dodge, died at Newton, Kansas, on
Sunday afternoon last (January 2, 1881) of quick consumption.
Mr. Tantum left this city a few
months ago in poor health, and his death is no surprise to those who were
intimately acquainted with him. The deceased was a native of Allentown, N. J.
during his residence here, he was in the employ at different times of Wright
& Langton, Ft. Dodge, Cox & Boyd, Dodge House, and in the Dodge City
Post office.
He was a young man generally liked and his death is deeply regrettd
by a large number of friends. Mr. Tantum was married to a young lady of this
city, Miss Patterson, last summer and since their marriage they had been living
