Obituary
Mickey Jones, 84, died Saturday (Oct.
22, 2016) at Sunshine Home in Buhler. She was born June 9, 1932, in
Protection to Earl and Cleo (Goos) Daugherty. She was a graduate of
Hutchinson High School. On March 31, 1951, she married Frank S. Jones
in Hutchinson. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2013.
Mickey was co-owner alongside her
husband of the former Maxwell's Flowers shop in Newton. They served
the Newton community for many years with their flower arrangements
and gifts. She was also a member of the First Christian Church in
Newton.
Mickey enjoyed sewing, quilting and
sharing her creations with her family and friends. She also
participated in the Harvey County Relay For Life for many years.
Many of Mickey's favorite times were
spent with family and friends. She looked forward to her coffee time
at Drubers Donuts and meeting up with friends at the Newton VFW and
American Legion steak and hamburger night. She enjoyed keeping up
with her children and grandchildren and following their activities.
Mickey developed a soft spot in her heart for her "granddog"
Kramer and he returned her affections.
She is survived by her sons: Rick and
his wife Terri Jones and Rod and his wife Laurie Jones, all of
Hutchinson, Kansas. She is also survived by eight loving
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mickey was preceded in death by her
parents; husband; sister Dean Nehring; and infant brother Earl
Daugherty Jr.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m.
Saturday (Oct. 29, 2016) at First Christian Church in Newton with
Pastor Gary Bell presiding.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m.
Friday (Oct. 28, 2016) evening at Petersen Funeral Home, with the
family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the
Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
