Obituary
Winifred Ann "Winnie" (Reed)
Teeter of Wichita, formerly of Lyons and Halstead, passed away Monday
(Oct. 24, 2016) in Wichita. She was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Lyons, the
daughter of Francis L. and Helen J. Reed. She married Max Teeter June
5, 1954 in Lyons. He survives.
Winifred is also survived by a son,
Brad (Sharon) Teeter, Wichita; three daughters, Deborah (Ken) Raney,
Wichita, Vicky (Jeff) Miller, Sterling and Beverly (Bruce) Bishop,
Wichita; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, Norman
(Sharon) Reed, Max (Janet) Fossey and Dale (Maggie) Reed.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; a daughter, Kimberley Teeter Kurtz; a daughter-in-law,
Krista Terry Teeter; and a sister, Elaine Fossey Lockwood.
Winifred earned a teaching certificate
from McPherson College and taught kindergarten at Junction City
before her marriage. Winifred and Max farmed north of Lyons, in Rice
County, for fifty years.
Winifred was a member of Grace
Community Church, Newton. Along with her husband, she served in
missions as one of the founders and board members of Haiti Love and
Faith, as well as volunteering with Teen Mission International in
Merritt Island, Florida. She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed
everything from doll clothes to wedding dresses to quilts to
full-size tipis for Teen Mission. She was a loving wife and mother,
as well as a devoted "Grammy" to her 12 grandchildren and
24 great-grandchildren. She had a strong faith in Christ, and served
in various roles in church throughout her life.
Private family graveside service is
Wednesday (Oct. 26, 2016) at Lyons Cemetery. Memorial service will be
held at 2 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 29, 2016) at Grace Community Church,
1600 S. Anderson Rd. Newton.
