Earlene Joyce Evans

Obituary

Earlene Joyce (Lynch) Evans, born Nov. 11, 1944, passed away on Oct. 12, 2016, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. A 1962 graduate of Newton High School and of business school, she was honored to have been selected as Fire Prevention Queen and as Homecoming Queen. She met Ron Evans through her work, and they married on June 5, 1965, making their home in Wichita before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and later to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She and Ron raised two children, Ed and Elaina.

Earlene is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Irene Lynch; by her sister Joan; her brother Jay; and by her niece, Tiffany Morrison.

Earlene is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ron Evans; by her children Ed, Elaina and Beth; by her aunt, Ida Unruh; by her grandchildren, Jenny and Brett Rottmayer and Alexis Pavlik; by her brothers and sisters, Sidney and Rita Evans and Father Michael Evans; by her great-grandchildren, Jensen, Logan, Braelyn, and Aidan Rottmayer; and by many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She had a great heart for service and loved doing volunteer work for the Broken Arrow hospital, for the Children's Day Nursery, for the Assistance League, as a homeroom mother, and as a Cub Scout and Camp Fire leader. Many of her schoolmates remained lifelong friends, and she easily made friends everywhere she went. Among those friends were Ron's colleagues and their families, neighbors and those with whom she volunteered. She enjoyed swimming, her pets, cooking and baking for the holidays, her volunteer work and spending time with friends and family.

The family is grateful to Debbie Barrett and to Doris Hall, her kind-hearted caregivers, and to St. Simeon's Senior Community and St. Francis Hospice, who cared for her in the final stage of her illness.

The family asks, in lieu of flowers, that you consider a donation in Earlene's memory to the Alzheimer's charity of your choice , or to St. Antony's Orthodox Church in Tulsa. She was laid to rest in Tulsa at Memorial Park Cemetery.
