Wesley T. Ratzlaff
Wesley T. Ratzlaff, 89, died on
Thursday (Oct. 23, 2008) at Mennonite Manor in South Hutchinson. He
was born on April 30, 1919, in Durham, the son of Agnes (Unruh) and
Adam S. Ratzlaff. They preceded him in death. During World War II,
Wesley enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 16, 1941, at Ft.
Leavenworth. He was discharged on Jan. 11, 1946, in Ft. Logan, Colo.,
as a staff seargent. On May 28, 1943, he married Rosalene J. Forsberg
in Seattle, Wash. She survives. Wesley was a member of South
Hutchinson United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
No. 971 and the American Legion of Hutchinson.
Survivors also include his son and
daughter-in-law, Mike and Becky Ratzlaff of Hutchinson; brother,
Clinton Ratzlaff of Maxwell, Iowa; sister, Clara Wance of Hesston;
and three grandchildren, Danna McVey of Austin, Texaw, Tiffany
Ratzlaff of Hutchinson and Tannar Ratzlaff of Manhattan.
He also was preceded in death by his
parents; a daughter, Sandra K. Lay; and two sisters, Hilda Mitchell
and Frances Decker.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m.
Sunday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, with the family
greeting friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at
Restlawn Garden of Memories in Newton, followed by memorial services
at 2 p.m. Monday at South Hutchinson Mennonite Manor in South
Hutchinson.
