Obituary: Charles R. Mings
KS_Newton -- HALSTEAD — Charles R. Mings, 83, retired
National Life Insurance agent, died on Sunday (Sept. 30, 2012) at Halstead
Health and Rehabilitation in Halstead. He was born on Dec. 13, 1928, in Manes,
Mo., to George R. and Elsie M. (Gregory) Mings. He was a member of Park City
Christian Church, Circle Eight Square Dancers, Oddfellows, Prairie View Hoops
Volunteer, Catholic Charities foster grandparent and was a Red Cross 40 pint
blood donor. On June 21, 1964, he married Winifred E. Northrop in Wichita. She
died on July 26, 2012. Survivors include a son, Mark (Candy) Sizelove of
Newton; daughters, Leta (Mike) Thomas of Halstead, Kate (Phillip) McPheeters of
Newton, Deb Ford of Hutchinson, and Cindy (Jelke) Pyle of Newton; 13
grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by brothers, William and Melvin; and sisters, Cledith
Mings, Nova Douglas, Lois McInroy, Ivy Bursch, Juanita Perkins and Berniece
Simpson. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 4, 2012) at Kaufman
Funeral Home of Halstead. The family will be present from 6:30 to 8
p.m.?Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday (Oct. 5, 2012) at Kaufman
Funeral Home of Halstead. Burial will follow at White Chapel Cemetery of
Wichita. Memorials may be given to Catholic Charities foster grandparent
program or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home of Halstead.
