Arlo S. Hull
Newton – Arlo S. Hull passed away Saturday (October 6,
2012).
Born in Towanda Feb. 12 1924, he was the third of four
children to Ernest and Blanch Hull, and grew up on a farm northwest of Towanda.
Arlo graduated from Towanda High School in 1942. Two years later he enlisted
into the Army when his older brother Hobart had been drafted into the military
during WW II. Arlo served overseas in the Pacific Theatre for the two years.
After returning home, Arlo married Virginia Keith on May 6, 1950. They started
their home in El Dorado and raised their daughter, Pam Hull.
He worked at the Texaco refinery in El Dorado until he
retired in 1987. A member of the local American Legion, Arlo was also an avid
gardener and attended many Butler Community College sporting events.
Arlo is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Blanch
Hull, brothers Hobart and Loraine Hull, and his wife Virginia Hull. Survivors
include sister, Virgilene Soobie-Buckner of El Dorado; daughter and son-in-law,
Pam and Gary Brant of Newton; grandchildren, Bryan Brant, and Steven and
Margaret P. Brant of Valley Center; great-grandchildren, Kristin, Devon,
Spencer, Virginia G., Caleb, Zen, Juniper, and Arlo A. and Margaret L.;
great-great-son, Landyn.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. October 11 at Kirby Funeral Home in El
Dorado. Donations can be made to Kansas Christian Home at 1035 S.E. 3rd St.,
Newton, KS 67114.
