Obituary: Darleen Jane Schrag Bartell

MOUNDRIDGE — Darleen Jane Schrag Bartell, 86, died on Friday (Sept. 7, 2012) at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation in Halstead. She was born on Sept. 9, 1925, in Newton to Henry J. and Elsie M. Kaufman Schrag. Prior to her retirement, she enjoyed a career in public education working with children who had special needs. She married Earl Walter Bartell on Aug. 30, 1945, in Moundridge. He died on May 27, 1993. Survivors include daughter, Marcia Pat (John Elmer) Stucky of Moundridge; son, Markus Earl Bartell of Halstead; chosen daughter, Rebecca Wilson of Valley Center; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Eden Mennonite Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Moundridge Funeral Home. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to the Eden Mennonite Church Endowment Fund-Mission Outreach, in care of the funeral home.
