Evelyn J. Habegger
MOUNDRIDGE - Evelyn J. Habegger, 92,
died July 23, 2007, at Memorial Home in Moundridge.
She was born on Oct. 18, 1914, in
Moundridge to John F. and Kate (Gerbrand) Regier. She married Loris
A. Habegger on Aug. 9, 1945, in Moundridge. He survives at home. She
was a member of Bethel College Mennonite Church in Newton and Newton
Lionesses. She lived a simple life and enjoyed gardening and loved
the outdoors. Her time with her family were some of her happiest
times. She was a pastor's wife, with congregations in Kansas, Iowa
and Ohio. In her last years, she struggled with dementia. She
demonstrated kindness and grace throughout her life, even through her
illness. She was loved deeply by her husband and family. She will be
greatly missed by all who were touched by her life.
Other survivors include sons, Arman and
Sue Habegger of Pandora, Ohio, and Richard and Carol Habegger of
Winston-Salem, N.C.; a daughter, Lorna and Bob Harder of Moundridge;
a brother, John Warren and Phyllis Regier of Moundridge; a sister,
Anna Fern and Everett Lakin of Salina; grandchildren, Luke and Leigh
Habegger, Randy and Kevin Hart, and Henry Jones III; and two
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; an infant brother, Wilbur Halley Regier; and two sisters,
Ruth B. Geist and Gertrude.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9
p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with family present
from 6 to 8 p.m.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at
Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton with Pastor John Esau
officiating. Private burial will be at 9 a.m. at Bethel College
Mennonite Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made to Bethel College Mennonite Church and Moundridge Memorial Home
in care of the funeral home.
