Ivan L. Clark

Ivan L. Clark, 85, of Burns died Thursday (Feb. 15, 2007) at Newton Medical Center . 

He was born Sept. 11, 1921, in rural Florence to George and Ida (Roberts) Clark. On Feb. 14, 1942, he married Marie Ehmke in Newton, She survives of the home. He was a member of the Summit Methodist Church, Burns. Ivan was a farmer and rancher all of his life. He retired in 1995 but remained living on the farm with his loving wife. He greatly enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a loving father and "grandpa" who enjoyed his family and many friends. 

Other survivors include a daughter, Diane and Larry Nelson of Cassoday; a daughter, Gloria and Wayne Handle of Baxter Springs; a daughter, Jennifer Stucky of Newton; a daughter, Peggy and Martin van der Weg of Newton; a son, Mack and Shayla Clark of rural Peabody; a brother, Wilber "Bill" Clark of El Dorado; a brother, Gordon "Sonny" Clark of El Dorado; sisters, Maude Gains and Margaret Matz, both of Peabody, Norma Riggs of Marion, Joyce Barker of Wichita and Sherol Nightengale of Burns; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. 

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Burns United Methodist Church, with Pastor Steve Hyson and Pastor Jim Bush officiating. 

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with family greeting friends from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of the funeral home.
