Arthur Janzen, 89, passed away Saturday (May 17, 2008) at Kidron Bethel Health Care in North Newton.
He was born Nov. 27, 1918, to Dan R. and Tina (Schmidt) Janzen. They preceded him in death.
Arthur was in C.P.S. for more than four years in Denison, Iowa, and North Platte, Neb.
He married Helen R. Schmidt on Nov. 6, 1947. She survives of Kidron Bethel Health Care.
Arthur worked for the elevator at North Main, Full Vision and Hesston Corp. the last 19 years before retirement. After he retired, he turned his hobby of woodworking into a full-time activity, selling his wood creations at craft shows.
Arthur and Helen were charter members of Faith Mennonite Church in Newton, where he ushered for many years.
Survivors include a son, Randall, and his wife, Rachel, of Turpin, Okla.; granddaughter, Kristina, and husband, Pete Brady, of Liberal; grandson, Kristopher Janzen of Edmond, Okla.; and two great-grandchildren, Skyler and Ashlynn Brady. Arthur has one surviving brother, Floyd and Anna Mae Janzen, and a sister-in-law, Irene Janzen.
He was preceded in death by two siblings, Rosella Jantz and Milferd Janzen.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Tabor Church Cemetery, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. at Faith Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Gordon Smith officiating.
