Milferd Janzen
Milferd Janzen, 79, of Newton died Thursday (April 3, 2003) at his residence.
He was born Sept. 19, 1923 in Goessel to Tina (Schmidt) and Dan R. Janzen in Goessel. He married Irene V. Voth May 23, 1948 in Goessel. She survives of the home. He was a member of Faith Mennonite Church in Newton and enjoyed volunteering at Botanica at the Wichita Gardens. He spent his leisure time gardening, fishing and completing jigsaw puzzles. He and his wife enjoyed traveling together. He was an avid walker and exercise enthusiast. He retired from Hay and Forage.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Bonnie Hanser of Des Moines, Iowa, Ladene Herrick of Wichita; a son, Ken Janzen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Art Janzen of North Newton and Floyd Janzen of Hesston; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister; Rosella Jantz.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Mennonite Church with Pastor Gordon Smith of the church officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with Hospice Care of Kansas and American Heart Association.
There will be a graveside committal service at 10 a. m. Monday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory.
