Obituary
Patricia Jean (Murray) Osborn, 83, died
Wednesday (Dec. 28, 2016) at Newton Presbyterian Manor. She was born
March 5, 1933, in Liberal to Dr. Alvin W. and Wilma (Dorth) Murray.
Her father was the pastor of the United Methodist Church in Boise
City, Oklahoma.
Patricia's passions were her family and
her music.
She first had piano lessons at the age
of three from the organist of the Grace Methodist Church
in Winfield, where her father was the
pastor. Her joy was learning to play the violin at the age of eight
and she continued to play the violin
until she was 80. When in high school, in Winfield, she led the
second violin section of the orchestra in the Winfield Oratorio
Society's annual presentation of Felix
Mendelssohn's oratorio "Elijah."
She shared in the honor extended to the Society when it was invited
to present the "Elijah" at four concerts in Israel.
She and Chester L. Osborn were united
in marriage on July 26, 1953. She graduated from Southwestern College
in 1955. Together, they were a parsonage family in Winfield,
Parsippany, New Jersey, Oxford, Newton, Salina, Derby, Wichita,
Hutchinson and retired in Newton. While in Hutchinson, she was the
Regional Operations Manager for the Hutchinson Region of Blue Cross
and BlueShield of Kansas.
The delight of her life was her family.
She is survived by her husband, Chester; their children,
Phillip and his wife Trissie of Dallas,
Susan Osborn of Kansas City, Kansas and Douglas and his wife
Nicole of Omaha, Nebraska. Altogether,
there are seven grandsons and two granddaughters, plus two
great-grandsons.
Patricia was preceded in death by her
parents; one sister, Ruth Brown; and her step-mother, Marjorie
Murray.
A celebration of life service will be
at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 3, 2016) at Trinity Heights United Methodist
Church in Newton, with Pastors Vern Bowers and Phil Fischer
presiding. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery Columbarium.

Heights United Methodist Church Foundation, in care of Petersen
Funeral Home.
