Obituary
Marie Wilma Voth passed away Sunday
(Dec. 25, 2016) at Kidron Bethel Retirement Community in North
Newton.
She was born May 20, 1930, at Bethesda
Hospital to Herman S. and Elizabeth (Enz) Voth and grew up on the
farm southwest of Goessel. She and her twin sister Martha, the
youngest of the six sisters and three brothers, helped with many farm
chores, and helped prepare Sunday meals and summer picnics for her
sibling's families.
Love of nurse aide work led to nurse's
training. Following work as a registered nurse at Salem Hospital,
Hillsboro, Marie graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from
Bethel College in 1965. The next two years were in St. Anthony,
Newfoundland, under Mennonite Voluntary Service program.
Back in Kansas, Marie worked for 28
years at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. In April 2012, she received the
Outstanding Nursing Alumnus Award at Bethel College.
Marie enjoyed painting birds and wild
flowers of the prairie. The artistic twin team created replicas of
historical homes and museums using wheat straw in the art of wheat
marquetry.
She is survived by her sisters, Martha
Voth and Irene Janzen of Kidron Bethel (North Newton); brother Marvin
Voth, Goessel; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; sisters, Agnes Goossen, Ella Weinbrenner and Ruby Masteller;
as well as by her brothers, Willard and Otto.
Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m.
Friday (Jan. 6, 2017) at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel.
The Inurnment Service will be at 10 a.m on Jan. 6 at the
Alexanderwohl Cemetery.
Visitation is planned for 5 to 7 p.m on
Thursday (Jan. 5, 2016) at the Kidron Bethel Chapel.
