Obituary
Martin Gene May, 82, died Wednesday
(Jan. 4, 2017) at Halstead Homestead in Halstead.
He was born March 19, 1934, in Smith
County, to Wardie Loyal and Alpha Ethel (Hillman) May.
He was a Halstead resident since 1962
and was a bridge builder working for Russell Ralph, Neosho
Construction and Dondlinger Construction.
He was a member of First United
Methodist Church, Wedgewood Golf Course Sr. Men's Club and served on
the board of Halstead Senior Center.
On May 27, 1956, he married Georgia May
Piatt in Humboldt. She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 1999.
Survivors include sons, Steve of
Hutchinson and Stanley of Colwich; daughter, Joy (Sandy) Fyler of
Wichita; brothers, Jerry (Patricia) May of Wichita and Mason (Lesta)
May of Ellsworth; sister, Janice (Dwight) Powell of Salina; nine
grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a
grandson, Adam May; and a great-grandson, Reece Knucles.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m.
Sunday (Jan. 8, 2017) at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Monday (Jan. 9, 2017) at First United Methodist Church in Halstead.
Burial will follow at Halstead
Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Wedgewood
Golf Course, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
