Obituary: Elizabeth M. Erwin-Heath-Bonham
Elizabeth M. Erwin-Heath-Bonham, 72, died on Saturday (Aug.
18, 2012) in Hutchinson. She was born on Jan. 14, 1940, in Pledger, Texas, to
Thelma Rilla Burden Erwin Davis and Artie Douglas Erwin. Elizabeth held a
membership with Liberty Baptist Church in Newton. Upon graduating high school,
Elizabeth attended college, earning her L.P.N. license. Later in life, she
drove a school bus, and then joined the National Carriers fleet company, where
she retired after 25 years of truck driving. After retirement, she once again
drove the school bus. During her trucking career, she earned the Million Mile
Plaque and also was a member of the Women’s Trucking Association. Survivors
include three children: daughter, Neva R. (Wayne) Kreitzinger of Hillsboro;
son, Rodney A. (Virginia) Heath of Newton; son, Elmer C. (Deidre) Heath II of
El Dorado; three siblings: brother, Kenneth L. (Janice) Erwin Sr. of Valley
Center; brother, Russell D. (Linda) Erwin of Valley Center; sister, Audrey L.
Mullins of Arkansas City; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding
her in death were her parents. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday
(Aug. 25, 2012) at Liberty Baptist Church, 613 S. Meridian in Newton. There
will be no burial at this time, and cremation has taken place. In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association, in care of Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home at 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114. Friends may view
