Obituary: Sylvia J. Parsley
Sylvia J. Parsley, 83, died
on Thursday (Aug. 16, 2012) at Newton Medical Center. She was born on Jan. 23,
1929, in Scottsbluff, Neb., to the Rev. James H. and Edna (Stolte) Tillsley. Sylvia
enjoyed life and greatly enjoyed helping people. She worked with welfare
departments in Colorado and as an activities director at nursing homes, as well
as other people-oriented careers prior to her retirement. She was an
accomplished seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crafts. She enjoyed her time
and the special friends she made at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton. Sylvia
is survived by a daughter and her husband, Susan and Clark (Jay) Martin of
Eckert, Colo.; brothers, Bruce and his wife, Ruth Tillsley, and Jim and his
wife, Pat Tillsley, both of Denver; sister, Gloria and her husband, Larry Angus
of Denver; and grandson, Jeremy and his wife, Amy Martin and their children,
Elisabeth, Josh, Ezra and Emil. Private family services will be in Colorado. Memorial
contributions may be left with Kansas Christian Home, 1035 S.E. Third St.,
Newton, KS 67114, or a charity of your choosing. Petersen Funeral Home of
