Obituary: Darrel R. Hanson
Darrel R. Hanson, 66, died on Monday (Aug. 20, 2012) at
Newton Medical Center. He was born on Nov. 21, 1945, in Beatrice, Neb. He
married Patti Bower on Sept. 10, 2011, in Newton, and she survives of the home.
Darrel was a graduate of the Peabody High School and a member of St. Luke
Evangelical Church. He was a retired machinist with Hay and Forage Co. in
Hesston. Currently, he was acting executive director of Caring Place in Newton.
Darrel also enjoyed volunteering at the Harvey County Homeless Shelter. He was
a man of faith and enjoyed spending time with his loving family and many
friends. Darrel is survived by his wife, Patti of Newton; daughter and her
husband, Kimberly and Jason Dispensa of Newton; brother, Lonnie Hanson of Iowa;
sister, Leona Oakman of Abilene; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
several nieces and nephews; and a stepmother, Anna Hanson of Peabody. He was
preceded in death by his father; one infant brother; and one niece. A service
of memory and celebration will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 25, 2012) at St.
Luke Evangelical Church in Newton, with the Rev. Dr. George W. Mitchell and
Pastor Larry Sadowski presiding. A private family inurnment will take place.
Memorials are suggested to KSU center for basic cancer research, in care of
Petersen Funeral Home of Newton.
