Obituary
Jack E. Woolery, 85, died Friday (Jan.
6, 2017) at Comfort Care Home in Wichita. He was born Dec. 14, 1931,
in Newton to Ira and Hazel (Willis) Woolery. He was a graduate of
Newton High School in 1950 and attended the former Wichita
University.
He served his country in the U.S. Army
during the Korean War Era. While in Korea, he helped build the narrow
gauge railroad used by the military.
On May 25, 1962, he married Ruth Curtis
in Denver, and she survives of the home. During his working years,
Jack was employed in the tooling department of Boeing Aircraft.
Aircraft and flying were a passion of Jack's and he enjoyed spending
time in the air. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Family was important to Jack and Ruth and they both enjoyed spending
time with their loving nieces and nephews and their families.
Jack is survived by his wife Ruth of
Wichita. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who loved
him dearly.
Funeral service with military honors
will be at 10 a.m. Friday (Jan, 13, 2017) at Petersen Funeral Home
Chapel, with chaplain Eddie Peoples presiding. Visitation will be
from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 12, 2016) with the family receiving
friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in
the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials are suggested to the American
Legion in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
