81, Halstead Winifred E. Northrop Mings, 81, retired Woolworth's sales clerk, died on Thursday (July 26, 2012) at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born on Sept. 28, 1930, in Pratt to Walter Edwin and Elvira Belle (Meredith) Northrop.
She was a former Park City resident for 48 years prior to moving to Halstead in March. She was a member of Park City Christian Church, Avon President's Club and Circle Eight Square Dancers, and she also attended Newton Christian Church.
On June 21, 1964, she married Charles Roy Mings at Wichita. He survives in Halstead.
Other survivors include a son, Mark (Candy) Sizelove of Newton; daughters, Leta (Mike) Thomas of Halstead, Deb (Ben) Ford of Hutchinson, and Kate (Phillip) McPheeters and Cindy (Jelke) Pyl of Newton; brothers, Charles Northrop of Towanda and Harry Northrop of California; sisters, Ruth White of Wichita, Jan Conner of Hutchinson and Karen Conner of Topeka; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Northrop, and sisters, Mollie Smith, Elizabeth Septer, Barbara Logan, Clara Jensen and Doris Tedder.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday (July 29) at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday (July 30) at Newton Christian Church in Newton, with Pastor Chris Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Cemetery in Wichita.
Memorials may be given to Newton Christian Church, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home of Halstead.
