Bill J. Krehbiel
Bill J. Krehbiel 86, Halstead Bill J.
Krehbiel, 86, retired Halstead High School teacher and coach, died on
Monday (July 23, 2012) at Newton Medical Center in Newton. He was
born on Nov. 17, 1925, in Moundridge to Phillip and Freni (Stucky)
Krehbiel. He was a retired U.S. Army Major serving in World War II
and Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He
was a teacher and coach at Haddam, Centre, Leonardville, Newton,
Wichita State and Tabor College prior to his tenure at Halstead.
He was a member of Liberty Baptist
Church, V.F.W. Post 971 and American Legion Post 2, all of Newton.
On Nov. 23, 1948, he married Billie
Marie Luke in Moundridge, and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Dane
(Janet) Krehbiel of Lampe, Mo., and Philip (Pamela) Krehbiel of
Manistique, Mich.; daughters, Patricia Busenitz of Whitewater, Susan
Krehbiel of Halstead; sister, Phyllis Holdeman of Bowersville, Ga.;
18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers,
Delbert, Leroy "Dick" and Tom Krehbiel; a sister, Dorothy
Pjesky; and a son-in-law, Herbert Busenitz.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m.
Thursday (July 26, 2012) at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead, with
the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Friday (July 27, 2012) at Newton Bible Church, with Pastor Peter
Ostrander officiating.
Burial will follow at Mound Township
Cemetery of Moundridge.
Memorials may be given to Liberty
Baptist Church or Gideons International, in care of Kaufman Funeral
Home of Halstead.
