Carl A. Brodhagen

Carl A. Brodhagen passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 94 at his place of residence in Santa Rosa on May 1, 2012.

Carl was born and raised in Newton. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and worked at Aramco Oil Co. in Saudi Arabia, where he met his bride on a blind date. They soon married in Zurich Switzerland on June 18, 1957.

He worked for 13 years in Saudi Arabia before settling in Santa Rosa in 1962 to raise his children.

He worked for the Sonoma County Assessor's office until his retirement. He was a member of SIRS and St. Luke's Lutheran Church, and he loved golf, gardening, woodworking and Sudoku puzzles. Carl was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was the dearly beloved husband of 54 years to Barbara, and a loving father to son, C. David Brodhagen and daughter, Lisa Buchold (Erich). He also is survived by daughter-in-law, Anna Karp (Roger), and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

At his request, no formal service will be held. A gathering for family and friends will be at 1 p.m.

Sunday (July 29, 2012) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton.

Private inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Donations in his memory may be made to Memorial Hospice, 821 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401.

Petersen Funeral Home of Newton is in charge of the arrangements.
