Obituary: Charles A. 'Chuck' Willhoite
NEWTON — Charles A. “Chuck” Willhoite, 69, died on Friday
(June 22, 2012) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born on July 11, 1942, in Topeka to Robert B. and
Irene E. (Samuelson) Willhoite. On Dec. 24, 1967, he married Diane L. Brummett
in Newton, Iowa. She preceded him death. On Sept. 2, 2002, he married Cheryl
Unruh Smith in Las Vegas, and she survives of the home.
Chuck earned his bachelor of arts degree from the Brooks
Institute in Santa Barbara, Calif. He worked as a professional photographer for
many years and also was retired from the United States Post Office. He enjoyed
square dancing and was a member of camping squares of Kansas. He also enjoyed
woodworking and camping. After his retirement from the post office, Chuck
operated CW Engraving out of his home.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl of the home; son, Tracy
and his wife, Suzanne of Valley Falls; daughter, Tara and her husband, Scott of
Hutchinson; sisters, Marianne and her husband, Art Foster of Lenexa and Alice
Willhoite of Dallas; and stepdaughters, Megan (Colin) Newby and her family of
Portland, Ore., and Sarah (Curtis) Kennedy and her family of Newton. He also
had four grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife,
Diane Brummett Willhoite.
A service of remembrance and celebration of Chuck’s life
will be at 3 p.m. Thursday (June 28, 2012) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel,
with Pastor Art Foster presiding. A book will be available to sign from 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet
friends following the service at Petersen Funeral Home.
A private family inurnment will be in the Resurrection
Cemetery in Wichita.
