William Joseph "Joe" McGuire, 71, died June 23, 2006, at his home in Nashville, Kan.
He was born June 1, 1935, to William J. and Genevieve (Smith) McGuire in Cherryvale.
Joe attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Newton High School in 1952. He was a resident of Nashville for 23 years, and previously was from Newton. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church of Zenda. He was a retired grader operator for Harper County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956 and the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1966.
On June 20, 1958, he married Sheila (Kluge) in Newton. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, William "Bill" and wife Anne McGuire of Concordia and John and wife Tina McGuire of Claflin; two daughters, Jennifer and husband Emery Westerman of Nashville, Kan., and Kathy McGuire of Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Marian Wood of San Antonio; a sister-in-law, Donna and husband Milford Ediger of Newton; seven grandchildren, Clint, Amber, Andres, Emily, Jacob, Liv and Siri; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial was held June 27, 2006, at St. John Catholic Church, with military honors conducted graveside at St. John Cemetery in Zenda.
Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society, both in care of Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS 67124-3149.
