Obituary
HESSTON — Naomi Mae Weaver, 89, passed away on May 25, 2012.
Born to Ida Elizabeth and Christian Lee Naffziger on May 6,
1923, in Crystal Springs, she lived on a farm with her parents, older sister,
Nina, and younger brother, Robert. Naomi attended Harper High School until her
senior year, at which time she traveled to Hesston, graduated from Hesston
Academy and met her husband to be, Albert Weaver Jr.
In 1945, Jr. and Naomi married and started their life
together on a farm between Hesston and Newton. After their first child, Marlin,
died at birth, they had a daughter, Kathleen, and a son, Stanley, and as a
family, they enjoyed many happy years on the farm.
Naomi and Jr. moved to Hesston in 1987 and celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary in 1995. After Jr.’s death, Naomi moved to Hickory
Homes. While there, she enjoyed the friendship of the many residents, long-term
friends from the community and church and family. She attended Whitestone
Mennonite Church in Hesston until she moved to Wichita to live with her
daughter and family in November 2010.
On Dec. 19, 2011, Naomi fell and broke her hip. After
rehabilitation, she moved to Sunflower Meadows, where she received wonderful
care until she passed away on May 25.
Naomi is survived by her daughter, Kathleen and husband, Tom
Ruth; son, Stan and wife, Cindi Weaver; and five grandchildren, Shawn Ruth,
Alex Ruth, Sam Ruth, Matthew Weaver and Jesse Weaver. She will be missed by
family and friends alike.
As per her wishes, Naomi was cremated, and her ashes buried
at Whitestone Cemetery beside Jr., her husband of 50 years. The memorial
service will be at 11 a.m. June 16, 2012, at the Whitestone Mennonite Church in
Hesston.
Memorials may be designated to the Albert and Ruth Weaver
