Obituary: Ralph T. Roux
HESSTON — Ralph T. Roux, 93, passed away on Friday (June 1,
2012) in Hesston.
Ralph was born on Jan. 19, 1919, in rural Comanche County to
Lloyd P. and Lucille (Booth) Roux.
He was a graduate of the Newton High School class of 1937.
He married Lydia Kater on May 22, 1941, at Evangelical
Church in Newton. They resided in rural
Newton for 61 years, where he farmed and did carpentry work. Upon his
retirement from farming in 1984, he continued doing carpenter work with Ed
Kater of Newton.
Ralph was active in his church, the Harvey County Fair
Association and a longtime superintendent for the crops/garden division.
Family was very important to Ralph. He attended his
grandchildren’s events and actively participated with his own children in 4-H,
county fair and church. In 1988, he was awarded the Harvey County Fair Assn.
volunteer of the year.
He is survived by his son, Norman Roux and wife, Barbara of
Moundridge; grandchildren, Dwayne Roux and wife, Rhonda of Newton, and Joyce
Anderson and husband, Dave of McCook, Neb.; and great-granddaughters, Chelsea
Schenherr of Wichita and Kacy Anderson of McCook, Neb.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and
Lucille (Booth) Roux; daughter, Marilyn Kay Roux; wife, Lydia (Kater) Roux;
brothers, Wayne and Glen Roux; and a sister, Virginia Milburn.
Visitation was Monday (June 4, 2012) at Petersen Funeral
Home in Newton.
Funeral services are at 9:30 a.m. today (June 5, 2012) at
First United Church of Christ in Newton. A committal will be at Greenwood
Cemetery immediately following the service.
