Obituary

Rose Marie Kochenower, 86, died Friday (Jan. 27, 2017) at Newton Medical Center. She was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Newton to George W. and Mary (Radtke) Kochenower.

Rose Marie was a surgical nurse at the former Halstead Hospital for nearly 42 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton. She was an avid KU sports fan and also enjoyed following Royals baseball. She enjoyed traveling extensively, including to Alaska and Hawaii. One of her favorite trips she took was to Spain. She could often be found reading and enjoying good books. Rose Marie enjoyed spending time with her family, who will miss her very much.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 31, 2017) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, with The Reverend Nicholas Voelker presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday (Jan. 30, 2017) at Petersen Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Newton.
