Obituary
William Lorence "Bill" Thach,
88, died Friday (Jan. 27, 2017), en route to Newton Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Burrton, to Charles Randolph and Anna
Mary (Vollweider) Thach.
Bill graduated from Burrton High School
in 1946. He was a devoted farmer and retired from Kansas Power and
Light as a power plant operator after 37 years of service. Bill was a
member of South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.
On Oct. 15, 1949, he married Mildred
"Millie" Hill in Burrton. They shared 67 years of marriage.
Survivors include: wife, Mildred
"Millie" of the home; daughter, Jodie Thach of Burrton;
son, Larry and wife Teresa of Wichita; sister, Velma Climenhaga of
Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughters, Emily Galbreath and husband
Ashford, Jessica Dunlavy and husband Justin; grandsons, Matt Westfall
and wife Krys, Evan Thach and wife Kailey; and great-grandchildren,
Helena Galbreath, Harper Galbreath, Elle Dunlavy and Kane Dunlavy.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; brothers, Kenneth, Howard, Carl and Eldon; sisters, Margaret
Cook and Maxine Pennington; and son-in-law, Terry Westfall.
A funeral service was at 1:30 p.m.
Monday (January 30, 2017) at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastors
Claire Gadberry and Kim Benson officiating. Burial followed at the
Burrton Cemetery.
Friends were able to call from 9 a.m.
to 9 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 29, 2017), with the family present from 5 to 7
p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made to Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County or South Hutchinson
United Methodist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main,
Hutchinson, KS 67501.
