Obituary
Richard Joe Winsky, 93, died on Friday
(Feb. 3, 2017) in Newton.
Richard was born on Feb. 29, 1924, to
Albert and Alice (Chapple) Winsky in Halstead.
He was a graduate of Halstead High
School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S.
Navy as a medic. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring as a
postmaster in Lyons.
He married DeLois Warnke on June 30,
1946. She was called home to be with the Lord on Oct. 3, 1996.
Richard is survived by his children:
Rebecca and Richard Schroeder of Newton, and Richard and Nancy Winsky
of Admire; nine grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife,
DeLois Winsky; parents, Albert and Alice Winsky; brothers, Marlow,
Albert John and Orville Winsky; sisters, Vera Mae Williams and Hesper
Diringer; one step-grandson; one great-granddaughter; one
step-great-grandson; and one great-great-granddaughter.
According to his wishes, his body has
been donated to the KU Medical Center.
