Virginia Irlene Garrison

SEDGWICK-Garrison, Virginia Irlene 89, passed away January 30, 2017, at Diversicare of Sedgwick, KS. She was born May 27, 1927 in Pratt County, KS, to James Franklin and Edna C. (Strobel) Mills. On June 18, 1944, she married L.C. Garrison, Jr. in Coats. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2011. Virginia was a member of Coats First United Methodist Church, Coats and later East Heights United Methodist Church, Wichita. She was involved with missions and had gone to Chile. She was also a member of the Wichita Oil Painters and Kansas Art Guild. She was a teacher, missionary and an artist. She is survived by her sons, Robert N. (Jana) Garrison of Kechi, and Peter A. (Catie) Garrison of Wichita; daughters, Deborah A. Withers of Pratt, and Pilar E. Cordes of Wichita; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, L.C. Garrison, Jr.; brothers, Robert Mills, C.E. Gene Mills and Norman Mills; and sister, Norma Lee Mills. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and from 1-8 p.m. Sunday; Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 with Jan Blasi presiding, all at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be scheduled at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt. Memorials may be made to Pratt Area Humane Society or First United Methodist Church Missions, Pratt in care of Larrison Mortuary. Online condolences at: www.larrisonmortuary.com
