Henry E. BitikoferHESSTON - Henry E. Bitikofer, 87, died Monday (Nov. 27, 2006) at Newton Medical Center. He was born Nov. 12, 1919, in Canton to Fred and Martha (Loucks) Bitikofer. He was a mechanic and a member of Whitestone Mennonite Church. On Jan. 17, 1943, he married Luella Zook in Garden City. She survives of Hesston. Other survivors include: daughters, LaVera Ollek of Wichita, Evelyn and Jim Zook of Newton, Melva and Wendell Janke of Topeka, Anita and John Schimmel of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Linda and Larry Miles of Wichita; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Stella Sommerfeld of Hesston; and brothers, Allen Bitikofer and Ralph Bitikofer, both of Hesston, and Leroy Bitikofer of Canton. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers, one foster grandson and one son-in-law. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Hesston. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Whitestone Mennonite Church in Hesston with Pastors Wendy and Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Spring Valley Mennonite Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons Tim Janke, Troy Zook, Ian Schimmel, Sean Schimmel, Chris Bond and Doug Appenfeller. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters Heather Appenfeller and Michelle Bond. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Schowalter Villa and Mennonite Central Committee disaster services. Casket flowers are by daughter Linda Miles.
