Obituary
Ray Kerstetter, 88, died on Sunday
(Feb. 19, 2017) at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
Ray was born on March 12, 1928, to Ray
and Alice (Goldbeck) Kerstetter in Woods County, Oklahoma. He grew up
on a farm and enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed the Ministry, farming,
flying and traveling to south Texas as a snowbird.
Ray married Sara Blythe on June 11,
1950, and they were married for 63 years until her passing on April
30, 2014.
Ray was a retired pastor for the
Christian church. He was a graduate of Manhattan Christian College
and served in various churches throughout Kansas and Nebraska until
his retirement in 1993. Ray had many different side careers. Some of
them were: Boys Scout Executive, Social Services Director, Christian
Hills Church Camp Manager, owner of a laundromat and sheep farmer.
He is survived by his childen:
daughter-in-law Carolyn Kerstetter of Independence, Daniel (Glenda)
Kerstetter, Leon, Terri (Riley) Carrier, Tarpon Springs Florida, Tim
(Lynda) Kerstetter, Augusta; 13 grandchildren; and 14
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife,
Sara Catherine Kerstetter; parents, Ray and Alice Kerstetter;
brothers, Glen and Dale Kerstetter; sister, Patricia Edwards; son,
Bruce Kerstetter; and granddaughter, Lynnette Dapron.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10
a.m. Monday (Feb. 27, 2017) at the First Christian Church of Newton.
A visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 26, 2017) at
Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will follow the service at
Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
