Daniel Franzen
Obituary
Daniel Henry Franzen, 92, passed away
Sunday (Feb. 26, 2017) at Newton Medical Center. He was born on Aug.
3, 1924, to Gerhard and Lydia Dalke Franzen at the Goessel Bethesda
Hospital in Goessel.
As a youth, he attended Spring Field
Grade School north of Goessel. Then, he attended Goessel High School,
where he graduated in 1943. He grew up on a farm north of Goessel
and, when his mother passed away, his aunt Anna Franzen raised him.
He loved old cars and you would find him driving his pride and joy (a
1950 De Soto) in parades, which won him many awards. He also loved
his bulldogs. He married Patricia Gayler on May 15, 1971. She died
July 11, 2010.
Daniel always enjoyed the outdoors,
which led them to travel around the states. He retired from Cessna
Aircraft in Wichita. After his wife had died, he decided to move back
to Kansas-from Nebraska-to be closer to his family. Daniel always had
a smile on his face. He enjoyed visiting with everyone who stopped
by. He enjoyed life so much. He was a member of The Mennonite
Brethren Church of Newton.
He is survived by a son, David Franzen;
one brother, Kenneth Franzen of Wichita; and two sisters, Doris Unruh
of Ohio and Gladys Adams of Panama City, Florida. He was also blessed
with loving nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends.
Daniel was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Patricia; one sister, Elma Mishler; and one
brother, Irvin Franzen.
The family would like to thank each and
every staff member of Newton Medical Center and Goessel Bethesda Home
for their loving care of Daniel while he was in their care.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7
p.m. Friday (March 3, 2017) at the Bethesda Home Chapel, Goessel.
Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Saturday (March 4, 2017) at the
Bethesda Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Goessel Mennonite
Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to
the Critical Care Unit at Newton Medical Center, in care of
Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Goessel.
