Obituary
HESSTON —
Garrett Austin Spencer, 19, passed away on Saturday (March
24, 2012) in Wolf Creek, Colo., due to a skiing accident.
He was born on Jan. 18, 1993, in Wichita, the son of Gary S.
and Susan R. Dalin Spencer. He was graduate of Hesston High School, where he
was captain of the football team and a member of the Future Business Leaders of
America. He also was part of the Odyssey of the Mind team that made it to the
World Finals twice. Garrett then went on to college at Kansas State University
in Manhattan, where he was part of the KSU Marketing Club and was an active
member of the Student Mobility. He also enjoyed playing intramural sports.
Garrett was an active member of God’s Family and a leader of
the Hesston Youth Group, where he touched many lives.
He is survived by his parents, Gary Spencer and Susan
Spencer, both of Hesston; brothers, Clayton and Landon Spencer of Hesston;
paternal grandparents, Ralph (Shirley) Spencer of McPherson; and maternal
grandparents, Earl (Carrol) Dalin of San Antonio and DeEtta Dalin of Wichita.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with family
present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church in Hesston.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hesston
Mennonite Church, with Pastor Brad Burkholder officiating. Private family
burial will take place at Eastlawn Cemetery in Hesston.
