Harvey Deckert
Obituary
ANDOVER — Harvey Deckert, 95, died on March 17, 2012, at
Lifecare Center in Andover.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1917, in Newton to Peter J. and Susie
(Ratzlaff) Deckert. On Aug. 3, 1941, he married Ruth Klassen in Halstead, and
she preceded him in death.
Harvey was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton. He
was retired from Farmland Securities, Crossroads Coop and Excel Industries.
Harvey is survived by two sons, Don and his wife, Angie
Deckert of Wichita, and Dwight and his wife, Barbara, also of Wichita; one
daughter, Donna Holiday and her husband, Jerald of Wheaton, Md.; and six
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; seven
brothers; and one sister.
A service celebrating Harvey’s life will be at 2 p.m.
Saturday at the Regent, 2050 North Webb Road in Wichita. There was a private
family burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials are suggested to Gideon’s International or First
Mennonite Church in Newton, both in care of Petersen Funeral Home of Newton.
