Obituary
NEWTON — Delores Mae Wiebe Thomas, 77, of Newton, died on
Feb. 27, 2012, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born on Jan. 13, 1935, in Newton. The daughter of
John P. Wiebe and Otillie Becker Wiebe, Delores was a lifelong resident of
Newton. A graduate of the Newton High School class of 1952, she married Virgil
O. Thomas on Dec. 22, 1952. Together they had three children.
Delores was a homemaker, a dental assistant and a library
assistant at Newton High School and the Newton Public Library. For nearly 40
years, she enjoyed socializing with her monthly ladies luncheon group. At one
time, she was affiliated with the Newton Art Association and was involved in
competitive archery. Delores also was known as an accomplished pianist and
loved writing music and poetry, decorating and spending time with her
grandchildren.
Delores is survived by her children, Davy Thomas (Lee), Dane
Thomas (Bobbi) and Dena Sneed (Brad); her grandchildren, Erin Thomas, Melissa
Thomas, Katherine Kelser, Tyler Morris and Emily Sneed; her
great-grandchildren, Kallima Flora and Skye Carroll; her siblings, John E.
Wiebe (Janett) and Esther Wiebe Norton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and
her siblings, Ericka Wiebe Stucky, Elsye Wiebe Allison, Dallas Wiebe, her twin
sister Doris Wiebe Dunlavy and Ronald Wiebe.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service
at 1 p.m. Friday at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton. A graveside
committal service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

the American Heart Association or the Asbury Park Good Samaritan Fund, in care
