Loren Edward Mitchell
Obituary
Loren Edward Mitchell, 59, passed away on Friday (Jan. 27,
2012) at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Via Christi Campus in Wichita.
He was born on Nov. 3, 1952, in Newton to Clifford and Irene
(Harbour) Mitchell. Loren graduated from Newton High School and attended Bethel
College. He retired from North Dillons in 2008, where he had worked for 14
years.
Loren was a longtime performer for Newton Community Theater,
appearing in many shows. He also performed at The Crown Uptown Theater and at
Cowtown, both in Wichita. His other interests were the Kansas City Chiefs;
Kansas City Royals and K.U. He was a Civil War “buff,” and he also belonged to
the Newton Area Senior Center Choir and Pool League.
He leaves behind two sons, Jacob Mitchell of Kansas City and
Lucas and wife, Danica Mitchell of Overland Park; a granddaughter, Addison
Mitchell; his ex-wife and friend, Jean Mitchell of Newton; two sisters, Corilee
and husband, Ron Speer of Park City and Melody and husband, Doug Donker of
Newton; three brothers, Mike Mitchell of Eskridge, Stan Mitchell of Colorado
Springs, Colo., and James Mitchell of Colorado Springs.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Petersen
Funeral Home Chapel, with a private family inurnment at a later date. Memorials
may be made to Newton Area Senior Center or Newton Community Theater, in care
of the funeral home.
