Merle Walter Entz
Obituary
Merle Walter Entz, passed away on Tuesday (Feb. 7, 2012)
after a long struggle with emphysema.
Born on July 27, 1935, he lived his early years in Newton
and graduated from Newton High. He earned a pilot’s license at the Newton
Airport, and thereafter pursued managing airports at Wellington and Pratt,
before moving to Salida, Colo., in 1970. Entz was owner-operator of Salida
Flying Service for more than 20 years and was a lifetime member of the Salida
Elks. He later moved to Las Vegas, where he piloted charter flights to the
Grand Canyon.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Buse Entz of Henderson,
Nev.; his son, Gary (Ocie) Entz of Rhinelander, Wis.; his daughters, Judith
(Bill) Prater of Derby and Susan (Cash) Walker of Gothenburg, Neb.; and his
sister, Gwen (Don) Peterson of Albuquerque, N.M. He also is survived by his
stepchildren, Gary (Starr) Hildebrand, Mike (Sharon) Buse, Queena (Dave)
Allary, and Shirley (Jerry) Dominick; and stepmother, Edythe Entz of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Fast
Entz; his parents, Anna and Walter B. Entz of Newton; and a stepson, Chuck Buse
of Watertown, S.D.
