Obituary
NORTH NEWTON — Wilma Lee Howerton, 90, died on Tuesday (Feb.
14, 2012) at Kidron Bethel Assisted Living in North Newton.
She was born on Jan. 20, 1922, in Hayward, Okla., to Everett
William and Hazel Eva (Phares) Cook. She was a retired beautician.
Wilma Lee married Ernest “Curly” Ostlund, and he preceded
her in death. She later married Leland “Ferrel” Howerton, and he also preceded
her in death.
She was a member of Galva United Methodist Church in Galva.
Wilma Lee enjoyed spending time at the Galva Senior Center and looked forward
to spending time with her many friends and loving grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
She is survived by: grandson, Jeffery Ostlund and his wife,
Michelle of Mt. Hope, and their children, Emily and Ben Yoder, Katherine
Ostlund, Miranda Ostlund and Brendan Ostlund; grandson, James and his wife,
Jodi of Souderton, Pa., and their children, Noah and Ethan Ostlund; stepson,
Leland Howerton and his wife, Jill of Manhattan, and their daughter, Erin
Howerton; and granddaughter, Melinda Nachtigall and her husband, Mike of
Hesston, and their children Adam Ferguson, Lora Ferguson and Hannah Ferguson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and
son, Ron Ostlund.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Petersen
Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St. in Newton.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Galva United
Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harry Christian and the Rev. Phil Radatz
presiding. Graveside committal will be
in the Empire Cemetery in rural Galva.
Memorials are suggested to the Galva Senior Center, in care
of Petersen Funeral Home.
