Martha A. Livesay
Obituary
NEWTON — Martha A. Livesay, 57, died on Monday (Feb. 20,
2012) at her Newton residence.
She was born on Oct. 16, 1954, in Girard to James F. and
Doris (Trammel) Smith. On July 2, 1971, she married Everett R. Livesay in
Baxter Springs, and he survives of the home.
Martha was a member of Grace Community Church in Newton. She
was an LPN at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater. Martha had a special gift for
working with Alzheimer’s patients. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery and
spending time fishing with her husband.
Family was especially important to Martha. She enjoyed
spending time with her loving family and friends. Her grandchildren Caden,
Tegan and Jensen were the pride of her life, and she enjoyed following their
activities and being part of their lives.
Martha is survived by her husband, Everett R. Livesay of the
home; mother, Doris Smith of Commerce, Okla.; two sons, Doug and his wife,
Sarah Livesay, and Tim and his wife, Melissa Livesay, both of Newton; seven brothers,
Marvin McCollough of Spartanburg, S.C., Dana Smith of Hutchinson, Cleo (Bill)
Smith of Cudahy, Wis., Jeffery (Wayne) Smith of Quapaw, Okla., Larry Smith of
Quapaw, Okla., Tom Smith of Commerce, Okla., and Jerry (Bo) Smith of Quapaw,
Okla.; two sisters, Gail Gorszczyk of McPherson, and Ruth Renfro of Seneca,
Mo.; and three grandchildren, Caden Livesay, Tegan Livesay and Jensen Livesay,
all of Newton.
Martha was preceded in death by her father, and two
brothers, James Smith Jr. and John Smith.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen
Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at
the funeral home.
Funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Grace Community
Church in Newton, with Pastor Steve Friesen presiding. Burial will be in
Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
