Obituary
BETHANY, Okla. — Naomi Ruth Pollard, 89, of Bethany, Okla.,
died on Thursday (Feb. 23, 2012) at Heritage Manor in Oklahoma City.
She was a member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.
Naomi will be remembered as a devout Christian, wife, mother, homemaker, cook,
seamstress, quilter, gardener, community volunteer and church leader.
Born March 18, 1922, in rural Newton, Naomi was the daughter
of Peter and Lulu Pearl Brenneman Jantz. After graduating from Newton High
School, Naomi attended Kletsing College in University Park, Iowa, and Bethany
Peniel College in Bethany, Okla. Naomi married Kenneth Kee Pollard on Jan. 1,
1948, in Duncan, Okla. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary on Jan. 1, 2011,
shortly before Kenneth passed away.
Naomi assisted Kenneth in his pastoral ministry while
serving Nazarene churches in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas for 20 years before
moving to Bethany in 1978.
Her family includes daughter, Ruth (David) Nantze, and
family: Jerald (Konnie) Nantze and family; Regina (Stephen) Ketola and family;
James; and Andrew, of Oklahoma City; daughter, Janice Brown of Pratt, and
family: Matt (Amy) Brown, Grandview, Mo., and Kyle (Laura) Brown, Tecumseh;
daughter Karen (Dennis) Vaverka, Olathe; daughter, Becky (David) Fowler,
Kingston, Mo., and family: Tony (Sabrina) Davis and family; Chris (Lanita)
Davis and family of Las Vegas; Joseph Davis, St. Joseph, Mo.; Soni Lynes
(Justino) Velasquez, Emporia; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother, Lawrence
Jantz, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today and from noon
to 8 p.m. Sunday with family present from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral will be at 2 p.m.
Monday at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Graveside service will be at 11
a.m. Tuesday at Eastlawn Cemetery, rural Hesston.
