Obituary
Gerald Lee Lambert, 73, of Emporia died on Saturday (Dec.
31, 2011) at Presbyterian Manor in Emporia. Gerald Lee Lambert was born on Jan.
2, 1938, in Newton, the son of Joseph Nelson and Anita Dean (Beach) Lambert. A
graduate of Newton High School, he worked as a conductor and brakeman for
Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 2002. Gerald
served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Life Church in Emporia. Gerald
married Delores Dallas Gilchrist on Nov. 11, 1961, in Newton. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Roy Lambert of Emporia;
daughters, Patricia Lipson of Emporia and Katherine Sprecker of Americus;
grandchildren, Jennifer Lipson of Joplin, Mo., David Sprecker III of Emporia,
Sharee Lambert of Emporia, Nicole Tollett of Oceanside, Calif., and Gerri
Sprecker of Emporia; and great-grandchild, Talen Hart of Oceanside.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Sheryl
Lambert and Norma Lambert; and sisters, Anita Sullivan, Sharon Morris and Mary
Hawthorne.
A time of remembrance will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at
Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at
Life Church in Emporia. Pastor Tony Lantz and Pastor Chris Baker of the church
will be officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood
Cemetery in Newton, with military honors provided by U.S. Army, Fort Riley.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hand In Hand Hospice
or Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
