Obituary
Gerald Boyer Williams, 68, died on Sunday (Jan. 1, 2012) at
Via Christi in Wichita. He was born on April 13, 1943, to Gale and Lois
(Spangler) Williams in Newton, who preceded him in death. He married Maxine K.
Miller on Aug. 3, 1968, in Newton. She survives of the home. He was plant
engineer at AGCO Corporation in Hesston for more than 43 years, a member of the
First Baptist Church and a Vietnam veteran. Growing up in Newton, he worked at
the family service station on Highway 50 (East Eighth). He graduated from
Newton High School in 1961 and attended Wichita State University. He enjoyed
fishing, gardening, bird watching, traveling and spending time with family and
friends. He loved supplying friends and neighbors with tomatoes from his garden.
Survivors include a wife; daughter and son-in-law, Lynette
K. and Jeffrey S. Wyss of Newton; two grandchildren, Brandon and Erin Wyss; and
a brother and sister, Stan Williams of Oklahoma City and Phyllis (Williams)
Hawley of Coffeyville.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Broadway
Colonial Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First
Baptist Church, with Pastor Buddy Aldridge officiating.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the Lorraine Baptist Cemetery in
Lorraine.
