Ivanette Smith

Ivanette Smith, 81, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 7, 2012, at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. She was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Coffeyville, Kan., to Millard Seaborn and Esther Lillian DeRemer Kallenberger.

A 1947 graduate of Field Kinley Memorial High School of Coffeyville, she was a longtime day care provider and worked in retail sales, and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

She married Edmund Carl Smith June 8, 1947, in Dearing, Kan. He died Nov. 16, 2003. Survivors include: sons, Robert E. Smith of South Hutchinson; five granddaughters, Christi Winchester and husband Jamie of Hutchinson, Jeanie Smith and Drew Fulmer of Hesston, Traci Thiesen of Hesston, Emily Behrendt and fiancé Raj Sharma of Wichita, and Amelia Stunkel and husband Jeremy of Wichita; seven great-grandchildren, Jake and Luke Winchester, Lily and Noah Fulmer, Brynn and Tenley Thiesen, and Elizabeth Stunkel; and son-in-law, Steve Behrendt of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; daughter, Carla Smith Behrendt; two brothers; a sister; and a grandson, Josh Thiesen.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Restlawn Gardens of Memory, Newton, Kan., with Pastor Jeff Arnold officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed.
